In data 15 Dicembre 2015 the European Commission adopted the first program of cross-border cooperation between Italy and Croatia, of the value of almost 237 million €, with 201 million € from the European Regional Development.
It will aim to strengthen the so-called “Blue Growth” (Blue Growth), investing in search and in’innovation in the sectors of the economy and to improve the blue joint monitoring of climate change the A prevention of natural disasters. I due paesi potranno capitalizzare le loro risorse marine e marittime ma anche favorire lo sviluppo di un environmentally responsible and sustainable tourism in the areas involved.
The program “Interreg VA Italy-Croatia” covers 33 regions:
In Italy: Teramo, Pescara, Chieti, Campobasso, Brindisi, Lecce, Fogggia, Bari, Barletta-Andria-Trani, Venezia, Padova, Rovigo, Pordenone, Udine, Gorizia, Trieste, Ferrara, Ravenna, Forlì-Cesena, Rimini, Pesaro and Urbino, Ancona, Macerata, Ascoli Piceno, Firm.
In Croatia: Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Lika-Senj, Zadar County, Sibenik-Knin County, Split-Dalmatia county, Istrian County, Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Karlovac.
The program will focus on the following five priorities:
Innovation blue
Security and resilience
Environmental and cultural heritage
Maritime transport
Technical assistance

The total EU contribution (ERDF- European Regional Development Fund): € 201 357 220
The area covered in the program is also part of the Adriatic-Ionian region, that aligns the objectives of the program with the objectives of macro-regional EU Strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian region (I LEAVE). More particularly,, the program will promote economic growth in border regions of Italy and Croatia in line with the four pillars EUSAIR: “Blue Growth”, “Connect the Regional / interconnected”, “Environmental Quality” e “Sustainable tourism”. La strategia EUSAIR copre otto paesi: four EU Member States (Croazia, Greece, Italy, Slovenia) and four non-EU countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia).
